ULA Forging 2025
Items chosen for display and discussion at the ULA Forging in Texas in 2025.I have test packed a few of these items, but the list is still subject to change based on what will actually fit in all of the available bags. The items are flying carry-on, so we need to be a little careful. The items chosen allow us to discuss various concepts including:
- Breastplates - a few shapes
- Various different styles of rolls. Includes outward and inward turned, plan, roped, heavily roped, "bumps" etc.
- Gauntlets - a late 15th c. one, a nice example of how slots work for lateral movement and twist and a very nice example of how the articulation should work.
- Two styles of greaves
- Two arms illustrating form, articulation, fit and extent of movement
- Different styles of decoration - etching, embossing, fluting, etc.
- Shoulder form
- Different styles of mail rings
- etc.
Each of the items illustrates something specific about armor. Some of them will also be used to demonstrate how we can "read" what we see to understand what used to be there and how the piece may have changed over time.
Note: where the item is a pair, I likely included one due to available space packing items.
