European Spur 13th-14th century
Iron. German. From castle in southern Germany. Fine iron rowel spur. Deeply swept arms of rounded section. One end terminated by a vertical slot through which the stap was passed, the other with a ring used to attach the buckle and strap. It was a left spur. Incised decoration on the arms of the spur. Short stalk retaining its 6 pointed rowel in good condition. Rowel seized, but otherwise whole. Retains buckle - complete with tongue. Buckle is integral with the mount - remains of decoration on the mount area and roller for the buckle.
