European Spur 1490-1500
Iron. Wide flat form to the arms and rowel stalk. widely beveled at the edges. Very straight form no curve at the ankles. very good shape and details mostly remaining. scattered heavy pitting. All 5 strap mounts and buckle remaining. 6 point rowel. A number of similar spurs are associated with jousting armours of Maximillian I in the Waffensammlung in Vienna. Similar to a spur in the Tower of London (item VI 382) and item #38 in The Art of Chivalry.
